Patricia E. Mooradian Appointed President of The Henry Ford

DEARBORN, Mich.--Nov. 1, 20056, 2005--Patricia E. Mooradian, chief operating officer for The Henry Ford was named President of the institution, it was announced today by The Henry Ford Board of Trustees. Steve Hamp, president of The Henry Ford since June, 1996 stepped down to accept a position at Ford Motor Company as vice-president and chief of staff, reporting to Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Bill Ford.

"Patricia's strategic vision has driven an enormous amount of our current transformation," said Hamp. "She is a skilled and seasoned leader."

For the past five years, Mooradian has served as chief operating officer for The Henry Ford and has directed the daily operations of Henry Ford Museum, Greenfield Village, the Ford Rouge Factory Tour and the Benson Ford Research Center. In addition, her leadership and management role within the institution includes overseeing historical resources, experience design, education programs, marketing, sales, sponsorship, and public relations.

Since joining the institution in 2000, Mooradian has developed a ten-year strategic plan focusing on increased attendance, new visitor experiences and amenities, new educational products and benchmark hospitality. In addition she introduced new tourism and sales initiatives and spearheaded The Henry Ford's brand development, positioning the institution as a multi-venue, multi-day destination.

She introduced The Benson Ford Research Center to the institution's campus in 2002, and led the unprecedented restoration of Greenfield Village in 2003 and the opening of the Ford Rouge Factory Tour in 2004. In addition, she executed the planning and development of Henry Ford Museum's Flexible Gallery and the permanent exhibits, Buckminster Fuller's Dymaxion House: A New Way of Living, Heroes of the Sky and With Liberty and Justice For All (opening in 2006.)

Through her leadership efforts the institution has been recognized with several national awards including two THEA Awards (Themed Entertainment Association) in 2004 for Outstanding Achievement in the Extreme Makeover category, Greenfield Village and Outstanding Achievement in the Visitor Center category, Ford Rouge Factory Tour; an AIA Award (American Institute of Architects) of Honor for Sustainable Design, Ford Rouge Factory Tour, and a Dibner Award for Excellence in Museum Exhibits, Heroes of the Sky exhibit in Henry Ford Museum.

Prior to joining The Henry Ford, Mooradian was regional director of marketing for The Taubman Company focusing on the strategic positioning for more than a dozen shopping destinations across the United States in major markets including New York City, Denver, Chicago, Washington D.C. and Detroit.

Mooradian serves on the Board of Directors for Henry Ford Health System Detroit Campus, Arab Community Center for Economic and Social Services (ACCESS), The Henry Ford Learning Institute and Michigan Museums Association.

She is currently a member of the following advisory councils: U.S. Cultural & Heritage Tourism Summit Advisory Committee, University of Michigan-Dearborn Citizens Advisory Council and the Detroit Regional Chamber's Leadership Policy Conference Committee.
