Automotive Hall of Fame Honors Sue Unger

DaimlerChrysler AG's Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Receives Distinguished Service Citation

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Feb. 13 -- Sue Unger, Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer (CIO), DaimlerChrysler AG, has been selected to receive the Automotive Hall of Fame's 2006 Distinguished Service Citation. She was honored during the Automotive Hall of Fame an Annual Awards Luncheon on February 12 in Orlando, Florida. The event was held in conjunction with the annual convention of the National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA).

The Distinguished Service Citation recognizes men and women who have made significant contributions to the motor vehicle industry through either sustained superior performance or a specific important achievement, and who are still active in the industry or recently retired. Unger joined the Chrysler Corporation in 1972 as a financial analyst in Sales and Marketing. She was named Senior Vice President and CIO, DaimlerChrysler AG, in November 1998 and has global responsibility for directing systems and computer hardware strategy and planning, systems application development, data center operations and telecommunications network operations for the enterprise.

Unger's awards and recognitions include the 2005 Automotive News "100 Leading Women in North American Auto Industry," the 2004 Phoenix Mill Women's Museum "Pioneer Award," and the 2003 Association of Women in Computing "Top American Woman" award. In 2002, she received the Automation Alley "CIO of the Year" award, the Salomon Smith Barney "CIO of the Year" award and was named on the list of Detroit's Most Influential Women by Crain's Detroit Business. She is also a board member of CyberMichigan, the Eli Broad Board in the College of Business at Michigan State University and the Detroit Science Center.

Sue Unger is one of seven recipients of the Automotive Hall of Fame's 2006 Distinguished Service Citation. The other honorees are: Julie Nguyen Brown (Plastech Engineered Products, Inc.), Thomas G. Elliott (American Honda Motor Co.), Alfred L. Gaspar (Automotive Aftermarket Industry Association), Lloyd Reuss (Center for Advanced Technologies, Focus: HOPE), Ralph C. Seekins (Seekins Ford Lincoln Mercury) and John K. Teahen, Jr. (Automotive News).

The Automotive Hall of Fame, located in Dearborn, Michigan, is the only industry-wide means to honor the men and women of the global motor vehicle and related industries. It is dedicated to preserving the history of mobility by celebrating the creativity, toil and genius of the individual. The Automotive Hall of Fame is both a visitor attraction and an educational resource for inspiring others to higher levels of achievement on their own work and lives.
