AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Fuel Prices Falling
HOUSTON--Feb. 1, 20067, 2006--Texas motorists are enjoying their third consecutive week of lower pump prices, according to the AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.The statewide average price for a gallon of regular self serve is $2.185 - down six cents. Dallas and Beaumont have the highest averages on the list at $2.206 a gallon. Corpus Christi has the lowest average at $2.006 a gallon - down nine cents.
"Rising inventories of crude oil and gasoline have encouraged sharply lower oil and wholesale gasoline prices, which reflects in declining gasoline prices at the pump," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas. "Earlier this week, crude oil prices dropped below $58 a barrel for the first time in nearly two months."
The national average for regular self-serve gasoline is $2.269 a gallon - about six cents lower than last week's average.
