Consumer Reports: After Further Review, Prius and Civic Hybrids DO Save Money

Washington DC March 10, 2006: The AIADA newsletter reported that Consumer Reports Magazine has corrected an error in its April issue that said no hybrid vehicle can save money compared to a gasoline powered car.

Revised figures show that the Toyota Prius and Honda Civic Hybrid do indeed save owners money in the first five years- $406 and $317, respectively, reports MSNBC. The magazine said depreciation for the hybrids was miscalculated, inflating hybrid ownership costs by thousands of dollars. The revised report can be found online at www.ConsumerReports.org/autos2006.
