Adrian Lund is President IIHS

ARLINGTON, VA — Taking over from longtime president Brian O'Neill, Adrian Lund now is president of the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and affiliated Highway Loss Data Institute. Before becoming president in January 2006, Dr. Lund held numerous positions at the Institutes.

"Many people already are aware of this transition, but some who follow Institute work, especially our international partners in highway safety, don't know about Mr. O'Neill's retirement and Dr. Lund's promotion to president in January 2006," says Institute spokesperson Russ Rader.

Trained initially as a psychologist, Dr. Lund has been involved in health-related research since 1975. He joined the Institute in 1981 as a behavioral scientist, becoming senior vice president for research in 1993, chief operating officer of the Institute and HLDI in 2001, and president in 2006.

Dr. Lund is a highway safety expert who is consulted frequently by print and electronic media reporters. He appears regularly on television news magazine shows and on network news programs. He also is the author of numerous scientific papers and has served on the boards and committees of many highway safety groups.

"I intend to further the Institute's mission of strong research and communications. This organization will continue to evolve in response to emerging highway safety issues," Lund says.
