AAA Texas: Weekend Gas Watch; Fuel Prices Eat up More Green on St. Patrick's Day
HOUSTON - March 17, 2006: Texas motorists saw a second consecutive week of higher prices at the pump, according to the AAA Texas' Weekend Gas Watch.
The statewide average price for a gallon of regular self serve is $2.340 a gallon -- up 7 cents. Dallas has the highest average on the list at $2.373 a gallon. Corpus Christi has the lowest average at $2.295 a gallon -- down 6.4 cents.
"Although inventories of crude oil and gasoline have been rising in recent weeks, price speculation and the switch from winter to summer grade gasoline this month have pushed retail prices up," said Rose Rougeau, spokesperson for AAA Texas.
The national average for regular self-serve gasoline is $2.393 a gallon -- about five cents higher than last week's average.
