International Debuts New Diesel Brand for 2007 Engines

MELROSE PARK, Ill.--March 21, 2006--International Truck and Engine Corporation, maker of the world's best-selling mid-range diesel engines, today unveiled a new global brand for its 2007 on-highway automotive engines. Beginning next year, International will offer its expanded line of on-highway engines under the MaxxForce(TM) International Diesel Power brand.

The MaxxForce product line will range from a four-cylinder 2.8-liter engine up to the company's new offerings in the 11- to 13-liter class. MaxxForce engine-powered International(R) brand commercial trucks in North America will offer proven air- and fuel-management technologies and exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) systems with the addition of advanced aftertreatment systems, necessary to deliver uncompromised performance while meeting stringent 2007 U.S. EPA emissions standards for diesel engines.

"Smart truck buyers recognize the impact that a power train has on vehicle performance and economics, and by branding our engines we focus attention on the quality, performance and customer experience that our company delivers," said International Engine Group President Jack Allen. "The MaxxForce brand makes clear our promise that our customers get the best performing diesel with the best performing organization behind it."

The global MaxxForce line of diesels includes models for markets under European environmental regulations as well as models for stricter U.S. EPA standards.

Performance Brand

The MaxxForce TM brand stands for "performance," and reflects on International's commitment for its trucks and engines to perform at the highest level, so its customers can perform at the highest level.

The new brand also reflects stepped-up global sales and marketing efforts by International to grow business in Asia, India and Eastern Europe. The International Engine Group is expanding its engine product offerings with the addition of new big bore products developed in collaboration with MAN Nutzfahrzeuge, headquartered in Germany, and with the recent acquisition and formation of MWM-International in South America.

International today is the world's No. 1 diesel engine maker across the 160 to 350 horsepower range. In North America, International has nearly 50 percent share of the diesel pickup engine market, and International (R) engines power 40 percent of medium-duty commercial trucks and buses. In South America, International serves 70 percent of the diesel market.

"The MaxxForce product line reflects the performance position of our products that International is able to deliver as an integrated truck and engine manufacturer," Allen said. "International's ability to integrate and optimize technology solutions for the markets we serve is part of the MaxxForce DNA."

MaxxForce engines for the North American market will be made at International Engine Group's North American facilities, and MaxxForce engines for other global markets will be made at facilities of its South American subsidiary, MWM-International Motores. These facilities currently include engineering, manufacturing and technical centers in Melrose Park, Ill.; Huntsville, Ala.; and Sao Paulo, Brazil. MWM-International also will continue to serve South American and global industrial, agricultural and marine markets with the following product brands: Sprint Series, Acteon Series, NGD Series, 10 Series, 229 Series and MS Series.

Availability

MaxxForce engines will be broadly available beginning with the company's 2007 model-year Class 3 through Class 8 International commercial trucks, backed by the existing International dealer service network with 900 locations in North America and dealers in 48 countries around the globe.
