Mazda CX-9 Architecture Explained

IRVINE, Calif., April 4 -- The all-new seven-passenger 2007 Mazda CX-9 crossover SUV, which the company today announced it will show for the first time at the 2006 New York International Auto Show, incorporates an all-new platform architecture. Its unibody construction utilizes new-to-Mazda architecture, an all-new 3.5-liter V6 engine and a new six-speed Sport AT automatic transmission.

While styling echoes the recently introduced CX-7 crossover SUV, CX-9 is not a lengthened three-row CX-7, and CX-7 should not be considered to be a shorter-wheelbase CX-9. More information about the Mazda CX-7 and CX-9 will be available at the Auto Show.

Mazda invites all attending media to join the company for its press conference at 9:10 a.m. on Thursday, April 13, at its show stand to learn more and to speak with executives about both vehicles.

The New York International Auto Show runs April 14-23 at the Jacob Javits Convention Center in New York.
