Honda To Stop Production of Insight Hybrid, Introduce New Hybrid in 2009

Wahington DC May 19, 2006; The AIADA newsletter reported that Honda has announced it will stop production of the Insight hybrid in September and will instead introduce a new hybrid to the North American market in 2009, reports The Associated Press. Honda spokesman David Iida said the automaker is planning to introduce a hybrid family car that is one class below the compact Honda Civic hybrid. Honda is targeting annual sales of the new hybrid to reach 100,000 vehicles annually in North America.
