WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 Celebrates Woodward Dream Cruise with Live Prime Time Special and Classic Movie

SOUTHFIELD, Mich., Aug. 10, 2006 -- WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 cruises down memory lane for the 12th annual Woodward Dream Cruise on August 19, with a night of live programming, Classic TV and blanket news coverage devoted to the 2006 Woodward Dream Cruise. WXYZ-TV is the event's exclusive television sponsor.

To 'rev up' for the evening festivities, Channel 7 Action News anchors Stephen Clark and Diana Lewis will co-host the August 19 special from their home base production set outside of Duggan's in Royal Oak. WXYZ-TV/Channel 7's broadcast kicks-off at 7pm and runs until 9pm.

WXYZ/Channel 7's two-hour live prime time broadcast of the Woodward Dream Cruise will include a series of live reports from up and down the 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue, spanning from Ferndale to Pontiac. Action News This Morning anchors Erik Smith and Carolyn Clifford will be reporting from downtown Pontiac and Action News reporter Mary Conway will be live in Birmingham. They'll be joined by other Action News colleagues including Dave Rexroth, Joanne Purtan and Kim Craig. "Captain" Dennis Neubacher provides aerial coverage of the Cruise from News Chopper 7.

Following WXYZ-TV/Channel 7's presentation of the Woodward Dream Cruise the celebration continues with the "Cruisin' Classic Movie: 'Doctor Detroit.'" This zany comedy stars Dan Aykroyd and Fran Drescher. Live cut-ins from the Woodward Dream Cruise and Channel 7 personalities' memories of their favorite classic TV shows will also air throughout the two-hour special presentation. Continued coverage of the Woodward Dream Cruise will culminate with live accounts of the evening's events on 11pm Action News.

WXYZ-TV's Action News will be providing bumper-to-bumper coverage of the Woodward Dream Cruise throughout the weeks leading up to the event.
