DaimlerChrysler Launches 2006 United Way Torch Drive with Unique Twist on Olympic Games

* United Way of Southeast Michigan CEO Michael Brennan joins DaimlerChrysler employees and executives for torch lighting

AUBURN HILLS - August 22, 2006: On Wednesday, August 23rd, DaimlerChrysler will kick off its United Way Corporate Campaign with an Olympic-style salute to families and fun with its executives, employees and special guests. The event will include:

* Torch-lighting ceremony with Chrysler Group President and CEO Tom LaSorda and Senior Vice President - Human Resources Chrysler Group and HR Center NAFTA Nancy Rae

* Driving Out Social Issues (executive golf challenge)

* Pouring Hope into the Community (executive water race)

* Chrysler Group employee competitions

The event will take place at Chrysler Group Headquarters, Tower Front Lawn, Auburn Hills, and the schedule for the event is as follows:

* 11:30 - 11:50 a.m. -- Team competitions/"Back to School Challenge" (Photo Opportunity)

* 11:50 -- Torch lighting/LaSorda, Rae, Brennan, Wieckowski (Photo Opportunity)

* 11:55 -- United Way Campaign Kick-off speeches

* Noon -- Executive competition/Driving Out Social Issues (Photo Opportunity)

* 12:20 p.m. -- Intermission/Jason Vines, Vice President - Communications

* 12:25 -- Executive competition/Pouring Hope into the Community (Photo Opportunity)

* 12:45 -- Interviews

* 1 p.m. -- Media Event Concludes
