BikerWorlds Bear Travels Cross Country to Raise Money for Charity

ATLANTA, Nov. 28, 2006 -- In a first-of-its-kind event, the members of BikerWorlds.com (http://www.bikerworlds.com/), a social networking site for adult motorcyclists, are raising money for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program, by sending Larry, the BikerWorlds mascot, on a road trip across the U.S. The 15-inch tall, plush bear is relying on BikerWorlds members to arrange rides for him on the backs of their motorcycles via the BikerWorlds website. BikerWorlds has pledged $500 to the children's charity if Larry makes it to the Atlantic Ocean by December 21st, 2006. Larry also hopes his trip will encourage additional contributions to the BikerWorlds/Toys for Tots effort.

Outfitted in a black leather jacket, jeans, shades and a bandana, Larry left Seattle on Saturday, October 14th. Since then he's logged more than 1,500 miles on the backseats of BikerWorlds members' motorcycles through several states including Oregon, California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Louisiana. More than five weeks into his trip, Larry has just 25 days to get to the East Coast, but he's confident BikerWorlds members will get him there. Larry's only comment: "I just hope they all have decent bungee cords."

Major Bill Grein of the Toys for Tots program said, "We're excited to be the beneficiary of this unique road trip planned by the BikerWorlds community. We thank them for their imagination and generosity in helping us to raise money for the Toys for Tots program. We also wish Larry a safe journey and look forward to hearing about his adventures as he rides across the U.S."

Larry has his own page on the BikerWorlds website where members can coordinate rides and post photos, videos and news to update the community on his progress. To see where Larry is now or to donate to the BikerWorlds/Toys for Tots effort please visit: http://www.bikerworlds.com/bw_larry.
