• 15 year milestone in partnership between DaimlerChrysler and IOC

• Social projects and sponsorship of young athletes in developing countries

LAUSANNE/STUTTGART - December 1, 2006: In Kuwait City on Wednesday, November 29, 2006, DaimlerChrysler and IOC President Dr. Jacques Rogge donated a vehicle to the National Olympic Committee of Iraq. The van, a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 311 CDI, was accepted on behalf of the NOC of Iraq by the President of the Olympic Council of Asia, Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah. The vehicle will be used to support young Iraqi sportsmen and women training at a permanent facility in Kuwait. In future, it will be used to take the athletes to training and competitions. By donating this vehicle, DaimlerChrysler and the International Olympic Committee are hoping to promote a return to normality in Iraq. With its humanitarian aid, DaimlerChrysler and the International Olympic Committee are reinforcing the partnership that has now existed for 15 years between the Group, which is represented in around 200 countries, and the world's leading sports organization. Both partners have contractually agreed their cooperation until 2012.

Speaking on this subject, IOC President Dr. Rogge said: "We are delighted by this long and proven cooperation. It's about more than just sponsorship. For the IOC, this really is a strategic partnership, a close connection."

Dr. Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO of DaimlerChrysler AG, sees clear parallels between the Olympic ideals and the Group's business principles in terms of fair and open competition, international dialog, social responsibility, peaceful coexistence, and inspiring and motivating young people all over the world. Dr. Zetsche: "Our companies are committed to the values of passion, understanding, integrity and discipline. These are values that we also recognize in the Olympic movement."

The long-term cooperation mainly focuses on developing and designing joint projects and promoting social and humanitarian ventures on all five continents. In Africa and Asia in particular, DaimlerChrysler AG supports the construction of sports and training centers for children and young people. Since 1998, "OlympAfrica" centers have been opened in twelve African countries. These exemplary projects have since been followed by both "OlympAsia" and "OlympOceania".

One project that received particular attention was the unique orphans' school in the Kenyan highlands of Eldoret, which is run by Olympic champion and world record breaking runner Kip Keino and was financed without any state aid. At the school, Keino and his wife care for and educate more than 200 orphans.

Another model project is the training center in Kwasulu Natal in South Africa, where socially endangered children from once warring tribes play sports together. In the course of its partnership with the IOC, which dates back to 1991, DaimlerChrysler AG has also supported sportsmen and women from young, development-oriented states. Since 1996, almost one hundred National Olympic Committees (NOC) across all five continents have received Mercedes-Benz minibuses for trips to training and competition.

IOC Vice President and President of the German Olympic Sports Association, Dr. Thomas Bach, stressed the benefit of the partnership for sportsmen and women all over the world. "This project-based cooperation has proven enormously successful. In particular, it benefits a large number of athletes and young people in less privileged countries, which is why I am so delighted by this solid partnership that is characterized by mutual trust."
