November 2006 US Auto Sales Box Score

Dec 1, 2006; Reuters reported that U.S. auto sales in November fell from a year earlier, according to sales data released on Friday by auto manufacturers.

The following are highlights from sales data released by the largest car makers in the U.S. market.

Overall industry:

* November seasonally adjusted annualized rate of sales (SAAR) for light vehicles 16.04 million units, down from 16.06 million in November 2005 and down from 16.16 million in October.

General Motors Corp.

* Car and light truck sales up 6 percent year-over-year (291,061 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 8.3 percent

* Inventories at end month 1.1 million units, including fleet sales

* Retail sales up 11 percent; fleet sales down 7 percent * Market share up to 24.3 percent from 23.6 percent a year earlier, according to Autodata Corp.

* Key vehicles: Cars down 8.3 percent, trucks up 16.6 percent, Buick Lucerne up 195.1 percent, Chevrolet Malibu down 41.5 percent, Cadillac Escalade up 132.9 percent, Chevrolet Tahoe up 69.8 percent.

* Incentives: Average $2,539 per vehicle, according to Edmunds.com

* Production: GM plans to make 1.14 million vehicles in first quarter of 2007, down 9 percent from a year earlier.

Ford Motor Co.

* Car and light truck sales down 10.6 percent year-over-year (166,397 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 7.5 percent

* Inventories at end month for Ford, Lincoln and Mercury were 631,000 vehicles, down 122,000 from a year ago, including fleet vehicles. November-end inventory includes 214,000 cars and 417,000 trucks

* Retail sales down 7 percent * Market share down to 13.9 percent from 15.9 percent a year-earlier, according to Autodata Corp.

* Key vehicles: Cars down 2.6 percent, trucks down 12.9 percent. F-Series pickup sales down 16.1 percent, Expedition up 14 percent, Navigator sales up 65 percent.

* Fourth quarter production down 22 percent at 620,000, first quarter production set 14 percent lower at 750,000.

Toyota Motor Corp.

* Car and light truck sales up 15.9 year-over-year (196,695 units)

* Year-to-date sales up 12.5 percent

* Market share up to 16.4 percent from 14.6 percent year earlier, according to Autodata Corp.

* Key vehicles: Cars up 14.5 percent, trucks up 17.8 percent, Camry up 15.1 percent, Corolla up 13.9 percent, Tundra down 3.9 percent Continued...

Chrysler Group, a unit of DaimlerChrysler(DCXGn.DE: Quote, Profile , Research)

* Car and light truck sales up 2.9 percent year-over-year at 164,556 units

* Year-to-date sales down 7.7 percent

* Inventories at end month 499,036 units, 76-day supply

* Market share flat at 13.7 percent

* Key vehicles: Jeep Wrangler up 95 percent, Ram trucks up 8 percent

Honda Motor Co.

* Car and light truck sales up 0.6 percent year-over-year (106,446 units) * Year-to-date sales up 3.6 percent

* Market share down to 8.9 percent from 9.1 percent, according to Autodata Corp.

* Key vehicles: Car sales down 5.7 percent, trucks down 1.2 percent, Accord down 4.5 percent, Civic down 15 percent, Pilot down 20.9 percent.

Nissan Motor Co

* Car and light truck sales down 1.6 percent year-over-year (76,015 units)

* Year-to-date sales down 5.9 percent

* Market share down to 6.3 percent from 6.6 percent, according to Autodata Corp.

* Key vehicles: Car sales up 11.5 percent, trucks down 14,2 percent

* Key vehicles: Altima up 20 percent, Sentra down 5.6 percent, Frontier down 12.5 percent, Xterra down 31.8 percent, Armada down 18.7 percent, Titan down 18.3 percent.
