AAA TourBook® Travel Information and AAA Member Roadside Assistance Details on Magellan GPS Navigation Devices

SANTA CLARA, Calif. & ORLANDO, Fla.--Magellan, global innovator of GPS navigation solutions for automotive and outdoor markets, and AAA (American Automobile Association), North America’s largest membership organization for vehicle owners and travelers, today announced plans to extend their partnership to a national level. Together, they will make AAA travel information available on future Magellan portable vehicle navigation products offered to the general public, and provide additional member-only benefits. Currently, Magellan is partnered with four of the largest regional AAA clubs to offer a customized version of the award-winning Magellan RoadMate^® portable auto navigation products, available to AAA members. The first products to result from the extended partnership will be the Magellan Maestro™ 4000 series of portable navigation devices, available to consumers beginning next month.

The extended partnership will result in the availability of valued AAA travel information to all drivers who purchase future Magellan vehicle navigation products offering the AAA TourBook® content. The database will provide listings of AAA Diamond-Rated Restaurants and Accommodations, Show Your Card & Save^® Locations for member discounts, Approved Auto Repair Facilities, Attractions, Events, Campgrounds, Cities and AAA Branch Office locations. Unique text descriptions will provide detailed information to help travelers plan trips and select destinations like no other vehicle navigation products have done before.

The extended partnership will also allow for Magellan products to provide AAA members with access to AAA Roadside Assistance along with the Magellan Locate screen that indicates a driver’s exact location. Select products with Bluetooth hands-free calling capabilities and the roadside assistance function will connect the driver’s Bluetooth-enabled phones directly to a AAA toll-free help number. Service terms will vary by club.
