SAE's Supermileage Competition Set for June 8
MARSHALL, Mich., June 7, 2007; Aren't you getting tired of trying to make the ever-rising price of gasoline into a fresh story?
Then come out to SAE International's Supermileage Competition in Marshall, Mich., Friday, June 8, 2007. The vehicles in this competition, which are designed and built by high-school and college engineering students, look like something out of "The Jetsons."
And they get 500 -- yes that's 500 -- miles per gallon.
In fact, last year's winning car got 3,145 miles per gallon ... imagine driving cross country and never having to stop for gas.
When: Friday, June 8, 2007 starting at 9 a.m. Where: Eaton Proving Ground -- Marshall, Mich.
The Supermileage competition provides engineering and technology students with a challenging design project that involves the development and construction of a single-person, fuel-efficient vehicle. Vehicles are powered by a small four-cycle engine. Students have the opportunity to set a world fuel economy record and increase public awareness of fuel economy.
