HOUSTON, Tex. [July 21, 2007] – One day in Houston was all it took to determine a new overall leader for the Chevy-powered Rev It Up 2007 national performance driving school and racing competition. On the very last run of the single-day event at Reliant Park, Christopher Ramey, 37, of Houston, Tex. a first-time Rev It Up competitor, won the Houston event and took the lead in the national championship by a large margin. Rev It Up 2007 is designed to provide auto enthusiasts across the country the chance to enhance their driving skills and compete for prizes, including the grand prize awarded to the Rev It Up 2007 National Champion - a 430-horsepower 2008 Chevrolet Corvette.

Ramey, the third of six regional champions to be determined this summer, is now leading the standings for the national title and the new Corvette, with his fast time of 28.196 seconds, which translates to a high score of 826 using the Rev It Up 2007 scoring system, besting the previous national score by 92 points (established at El Toro the previous week). As the Houston Rev It Up 2007 Event Champion, Ramey was awarded a two-day “Grand Prix Specialty” course for two people at the Bondurant School of High Performance Driving and a custom Corvette-inspired “Jake” guitar by Paul Reed Smith Guitars.

“I loved competing at Rev It Up 2007, and especially like my chances to win that Corvette, a car I’ve been wanting for a long time,” said Ramey, an attorney who has competed in various forms of motorsports for the last 15 years. “My friend and competitor, Brian Matteucci, called me just yesterday to come out to today’s event, so I guess he’s earned his spot to come with me to the Bondurant school!”

Ramey took the Rev It Up 2007 title on Saturday evening in the daily Corvette shootout against the 25 other fastest racers, who qualified earlier each day in identically prepared Chevrolet Cobalts.

Other weekend winners included Houston runner up Karter Bollman, of Houston, Tex., an over-the-road truck driver who won a portable XM satellite radio, and individual class winners Christopher Ramey (Pro), Christopher Stokes of Houston (Club), Robert Bailey of Tomball, Tex. (Novice), Casey Hartman of Houston (Just For Fun) were each awarded Piloti driving shoes and Gatorz sunglasses. In the Reaction/Traction Competition, Timothy Buerger of Conroe, Tex. took top honors.

The next stop for “Rev It Up 2007: Where Drivers Come To Play” will take place at the Epcot Center parking areas in Orlando, Fla. on Friday, July 27 and Saturday, July 28, 2007. Updated information, event locations and registration forms are available at www.revitup.com.
