Brilliance Auto will be the only Chinese automaker to appear at the Frankfurt Auto Show this month, Chinese media reported today.

Brilliance Auto has three car models, Zunchi, Junjie and M3 sports car, on display at the auto show, said Liu Juan, a Brilliance Auto official in charge of overseas operations.

Previously, Shuanghua Auto has declared that they will not attend the Auto Show in Germany under pressures from BMW, which claimed Shuanghua had violated its intellectual property rights and threatened with legal actions.

Geely, another major home-grown Chinese automaker, also indicated the company has cancelled its plan to go to this auto show despite the company's president Li Shufu's high-profile announcement in April that it would definitely show up in the auto show.

In 2005, three Chinese automakers, Geely, Brilliance and Jiangling participated in the Frankfurt Auto Show. This year, many Chinese automakers that originally planned to participate in the show have now declined.

Industry experts say the withdrawal of Chinese automakers reveals the European automakers' unwillingness to allow Chinese automakers to invade their turf, on one hand, and the inherent weakness of Chinese automakers, on the other.
