PORT ORANGE, Fla., Feb. 4 -- First Alert System Text (FAST), a state-of-the-art text message system which alerts citizens about emergencies, has announced that beginning January 30, 2008 they will give a new Toyota to 100 individuals throughout the U.S.

This 100 car giveaway is the first in a series of events to promote the kickoff of the nation's premier cell phone based emergency alert notification system. Winners will be selected from new subscribers to the National Emergency Alert Network.

Robert Craddock, CEO of First Alert System Text announced a $10,000 donation to their charitable partner the Ronald McDonald House at the culmination of this event.

David Siegel, owner of the Westgate Resorts which hosted the kickoff on January 30th, verified his company's collaboration with FAST to saving lives through the National Emergency Alert Network. As an added incentive, Siegel announced that Westgate Resorts would give every person who signs up to the FAST notification system one free night's stay at any of the 29 Westgate Resorts across the country.

Craddock states, "FAST expects to sign up over 20 million people in the next 100 days."

Recent events illustrate the importance of early and dependable notifications to citizens and students in the event of natural or man-made emergencies. Government agencies, school districts, colleges and universities can access this national database of alerts plus send out their own notifications at no cost.

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is FAST's official source of weather-related warnings and alerts so subscribers may protect themselves, their property and their loved ones.

Persons who subscribe to the National Emergency Alert Network are automatically entered in the running for one of the 100 new Toyota cars or trucks. Entering simply requires texting the word FAST followed by a space and then your zip code to the National Emergency Alert Service Short code 47733. Interested subscribers may also sign up online at www.FirstAlertText.com. There is a nominal .99 per month charge billed by each cell phone company. This fee never changes and gives subscribers access to an unlimited number of emergency notifications.
