NACAA Recognizes Carfax for Excellence in Education About Flood Damaged Vehicles

CENTREVILLE, Va., June 11 -- Carfax today received the Achievement in Consumer Education (ACE) award from the National Association of Consumer Agency Administrators (NACAA) for educating consumers about the dangers of flood damaged vehicles. At the heart of the campaign, Carfax created a free flood check ( www.carfax.com/flood ) to help used car buyers avoid unknowingly purchasing a flood damaged car.

"We're extremely honored that NACAA chose to recognize Carfax for our efforts on this campaign," said Dick Raines, president of Carfax. "Buying a used car can be daunting task for many, but we are fully committed to raising awareness about important issues like flood damaged cars and, more importantly, making sure consumers have the information they need to protect themselves."

A study by Carfax revealed that the number of flood damaged cars identified by Carfax Vehicle History Reports more than doubled nationwide from 2002-2006. Using the free flood check, consumers can find out if a state DMV ever reported a flood damage title to Carfax for a particular vehicle.

"Carfax's efforts to educate consumers about the various issues and dangers of buying used cars are second to none," said Elizabeth Owen, executive director of NACAA. "Some of the best and most reliable consumer information comes from private sector companies like Carfax. They've long been recognized as a friend to consumers and NACAA is happy to honor them for their good work."

The award was presented during NACAA's 33rd Annual Meeting in Dallas, TX. For more information, visit www.nacaa.net .
