WEYBRIDGE - June 17, 2008: With summer holidays fast approaching, keeping the kids entertained will be a breeze this year thanks to Mercedes-Benz World in Weybridge, Surrey.

Families are being invited to settle some scores with the Mercedes-Benz World Family Driving Challenge, running between 1st July to the 7th September. Open to all members of the family taller than 1.5m, parents and children will go head-to-head completing a set of challenges to see who the better driver is.

Throughout the session both parent and child will be assessed on their road skills with competitors penalised points for each mistake made. The winner will be the individual with the most points at the end of the challenge. The question is, with the child being coached throughout the challenge by a Mercedes-Benz World expert driving instructor, can the parent match the child?

The challenge is priced at £35 for a 30 minute driving experience with 20 minutes allocated for the child and 10 minutes for the parent. Participants will be presented with a certificate as they take first and second place on the Family Driving Challenge podium.

Peter O’Halloran, Managing Director of Mercedes-Benz World, commented: “When we came up with the concept of the Family Driving Challenge, it was a way for parents to keep the children – and themselves - occupied during the school holidays. However, our practice sessions have shown that having a driving licence won’t guarantee you beat your 10 year old son or daughter – so we are warning parents not be too confident!”

Over the summer period, Mercedes-Benz World is offering a whole host of entertainment and driving events. Whether to prepare for the driving challenges or to distract from the embarrassing losses, parents and kids will be spoiled for choice.

Children can prepare to take on Mum or Dad by polishing their driving skills with a Kids driving experience which allows youngsters over 1.5m tall to take to the tracks in a dual controlled Mercedes-Benz A-Class.

While kids learn the basics, parents can perfect their driving skills with the AMG experience, which includes time on the wet-skid circle as well as getting maximum performance on the track. Or for a 4x4 adventure, the 4MATIC experiences see parents tackling 10 acres of unpredictable terrain in the M-Class or GL-Class models.

What’s more, the infamous Silver Arrows Display Team will be ‘wowing’ visitors with daily driving displays. The four exceptionally-skilled drivers will stun audiences with their ‘driving acrobatics’ with the help of four equally impressive and incredibly powerful AMG cars.

With a raft of fun filled activities to choose from, events are taking place daily throughout the summer, making it one to remember.
