AUTO CENTRAL - September 13, 2008: The importance and public’s interest in alternate fuels and vehicles have been exploding. We see examples of this every day, but nowhere is the evidence of this growing fascination more clear than in the number of expositions taking place this fall throughout North America and Europe. In the next ten days alone, four major “alternative” events will commence. Two of the events are in Southern California; one is in Turin, Italy; and one is in New Delhi, India.

THE FUTURE IS GREEN
This Sunday, September 14th, “The Future Is Green Conference & Expo” opens at the Long Beach Convention & Entertainment Center. Just the fact that this CAPCOA sponsored event is taking place in such a large venue says something about the growing importance in this field. CAPCOA (California Air Pollution Control Officers Association) is bringing together 35 local and regional air districts in California to present a comprehensive look at how today's new and emerging technologies will help achieve a cleaner, greener tomorrow. Even though “The Future Is Green” has a decidedly governmental-feel to its planned program, it should also be very consumer-friendly for those individual who would like to get a better understanding of the issues and solutions. In fact, the general public is invited to attend all of the Sunday afternoon workshops and the exhibit area for free. For more information about “The Future Is Green” visit http://www.capcoagreen.com. The Auto Channel will be providing Press Pass Coverage of this event.

ALGAE BIOFUEL SUMMIT 2008
On Tuesday, September 17, Growdiesel Climate Care Council is presenting a three-day conference and exposition to explore the art & science of converting the sun’s energy to biofuels using CO2, water & Algae. Regular visitor to TheAutoChannel.com will know how supportive we are of this “lesser-known” solution to the world’s energy problems. Experts from all over the globe will be presenting at this event, which the organizers say can provide anyone with all the essential information needed to jump into this hot, futuristic industry. Complete information about “Algae Biofuel Summit 2008” can be found at http://www.algaebiofuelsummit.com.

WORLD FAIR of NGVs and H2Vs
Late next week the second WORLD FAIR of NGVs and H2s opens in Turin, Italy. This event focuses on natural gas and hydrogen as the two most practical solutions to creating clean energy and a sustainable world. The first event, (held in Bolzano, Italy) was Europe’s largest exposition of its kind. Along with a chock-a-block schedule of speaker sessions, the first fair featured more than 100 exhibitors and attracted nearly 10,000 visitors. This year’s fair showcases private commercial innovations along with government sponsored initiatives. Hosting the fair at the Lingotto Center will provide a substantially larger venue, permitting even more exhibitors. Admission to conferences will be free, only requiring on-line pre-registration on the fair website. Attendees to the conferences will receive diplomas. For more information about WORLD FAIR of NGVs and H2Vs visit http://www.ngvworldfair.com.

THIRD ANNUAL ALT CAR EXPO
At about the same time as the Italian event the “3rd Annual Alt Car Expo” moves from its cramped quarters in a renovated airport hanger at Santa Monica Airport to the much more spacious and modern Santa Monica Civic Auditorium, also proving how important alternate fuel and vehicle issues have become. While Barker Hanger performed yeoman’s work in allowing the first two events to get its legs and build a reputation, the high quality of speaker sessions, public demonstrations and exhibitors in the first two years screamed for something better. Although this event has had a much more carnival-like atmosphere to it, with its myriad of hands-on driving opportunities, it was not without a very professional and educational side. Some of the most well known and respected speakers on the subject have presented here, and this year’s exposition promises to be just as informative and fun. For more information about the “Alt Car Expo” visit http://www.altcarexpo.com. The Auto Channel will be providing Press Pass Coverage of this event

ADDITIONAL UPCOMING ALTERNATE FUEL & VEHICLE EXPOS
Several other events take place in October and November. One of the most important events is the First Annual Propane Engine Fuel Summit on November 12-14 in Detroit. Like compressed natural gas, propane can provide the world with a reliable, lower polluting, less expensive alternative to gasoline, right now…today. This first time event, sponsored by our friends at the Propane Education & Research Council, will explain why propane could and should become a leading choice for vehicle fuel. Visit http://www.propaneenginefuelsummit.com to get additional event details. The Auto Channel will be providing Press Pass Coverage of the event.
