WARRENDALE, Pa., Sept. 19, 2008 - SAE International Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer David L. Schutt, PhD, has been appointed to serve on the Executive Board of the International Federation of Automotive Engineering Societies (FISITA), in the position of Vice President-America.

FISITA has three Regional Vice Presidents (America, Asia and Europe), who are responsible for leading cooperation among the automotive societies in their region and for ensuring that the needs of individual members are reflected throughout FISITA's activities.

Dr. Schutt joins 16 other society leaders and senior figures on FISITA's Executive Board.

"I am honored to be selected for this position and to work with a prestigious, global organization," Schutt said. "I look forward to working with my distinguished colleagues from around the world to shape the strategic vision of FISITA. I am confident that SAE International can provide an important perspective for that vision."

SAE International is FISITA's largest member society.

Commenting on Schutt's appointment, FISITA Chief Executive Ian Dickie said, "We are thrilled to have David as a member of our Board. He is immensely capable and experienced in international society leadership. His knowledge and insight will be a big help to us as we work to strengthen FISITA's programs in support of automotive engineers worldwide."

Prior to joining SAE International in 2007, Schutt served as Chief Strategy Officer and Director of External Affairs for the American Chemical Society (ACS).

Schutt holds a doctorate in physical chemistry from Princeton University and a bachelor's degree from Calvin College. He also earned an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
