CLEVELAND, OH., Sept. 29, 2008 - Alcoa Wheel and Transportation Products is pleased to announce a partnership with the Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority, one of the oldest bus fleets in the nation. Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority is Ohios 4th largest public transit system with over 11 million passenger trips a year. Its fleet includes diesel buses, electric trolley buses, Project Mobility vans and buses and Wright Flyer street cars. To add to Greater Daytons fleet, 78 new Gillig Corporation buses ordered will have Alcoa Dura-Bright wheels with XBR Technology. Previously, this had been an all steel wheel fleet.

With the change to Alcoa aluminum wheels, Greater Dayton Regional Transit Authority will experience the benefits of aluminum wheels including one piece forged strength, lower maintenance costs, since the wheels can be cleaned with just soap and water and a reduction in fuel costs due to the lighter weight of the wheels. Dura-Bright wheels with XBR Technology never need polishing and wont crack, chip, peel or corrode. The roll-out of the new buses will take place over the next three years.
