Carmakers Offer Rebates on 2009 Models

Washington DC October 20, 2008; The AIADA newsletter reported that usually, carmakers wait a while before issuing big rebates on a new model. But, with sales plummeting, they're already offering hefty incentives on some 2009 model year cars.

CNN has found some prime examples. Even Toyota is putting incentives on 2009 models these days. And not just on the fuel-hogging SUVs that are particularly unpopular these days. Popular models like the Toyota Camry, Corolla, and Rav4 are also available with 0 percent financing for up 36 months. You can also lease a Camry for $229 for 36 months with a $1,999 initial payment.

Honda's 2009 Accord also made the list. If it sounds strange to have incentives on 2009 models in October, 2008, incentives on 2009 Honda's sounds surreal.

Honda, with its line-up of fuel-efficient smaller models, has been one of the more resilient carmakers. Perhaps even more surprisingly, there are also leasing incentives on the 2009 Honda Civic. You can have one of those for $199 a month with $2,799 due at signing.
