Shanghai, December 17, 2008: (Gasgoo.com) China's fourth largest carmaker Chery Auto is expected to export 140,000 vehicles this year, achieving export revenue of $900 million, said sina.com today.

In recent years Chery Auto has seen rapid growth in overseas markets: the company exported 18,000 vehicles in 2005, over 50,000 units in 2006 and the export volume has been growing exponentially. Last year Chery's exports doubled and became the biggest exporter of Chinese-made vehicles for five straight years, representing nearly half of China's passenger vehicle exports.

>From January to November this year, Chery Auto exported 130,000 vehicles and is expected to reach its whole-year exports of 140,000 units. In the first ten months, Chery achieved export revenue of $813 million and the revenue will reach $900 million by the year end as the export is still growing.

Due to the financial crisis, Chery Auto is cautiously optimistic about its export business in 2009, said one of its sales executives. As the auto export market is unlikely to boom in the first half, Chery Auto will try its best to increase its export volume next year, but its export growth rate will get lower than the past few years.

Chery Auto is building up its global competitiveness by boosting its export business and brand recognition overseas. The financial crisis can be seen as a chance as well as a challenge for Chinese automakers to explore new growth points abroad, said Yin Tongyao, president of Chery Auto.
