Vehicle searches can now be performed based on customers’ requirements rather than manufacturers’ preferences

MANCHESTER, United Kingdom – January 22, 2009: Motoring.co.uk, the UK’s fastest growing motoring site has launched a unique search facility which allows its customers to perform searches based on what they really want from a car, including factors such as price, CO2 emissions, road tax, petrol consumption, pricing and finance offers and lifestyle. Previously, customers have only been able to search using the exact make and model of the vehicle they are looking for.

The search facility, known as ‘Value Criteria’ is available across both new and used cars. In the short time that it has been available, over 60% of Motoring.co.uk’s customers have searched for cars using this method. Consequently, Motoring.co.uk now boasts one of the highest click-throughs of any UK motoring website.

The new search tool gives car retailers, manufacturers and dealers the chance to execute highly-targeted marketing campaigns and the ability to influence changes to its question set and search criteria based on new car advances and future industry developments. This has never been achievable on a motoring website before.

Chris Green, Head of Sales, Motoring.co.uk said: “The amount of traffic and click-throughs we’ve already seen via the Value Criteria just shows the level of demand there is for a more intuitive website, compared to the rigid offering we’ve seen previously in the market.”

Green added: “Customers don’t always know the exact make and model they are looking for, but they do know the features they want from a new vehicle. By using the Value Criteria customers can not only search for the cars that are suited to their needs, but retailers, manufacturers and dealers can promote lesser-known models by letting their features speak for themselves.”

Motoring.co.uk currently boasts six million monthly page impressions, and is growing rapidly, with over 300,000 unique users. It has an average of 20 page views per visitor, coming in above the industry benchmarks in this area.

Founded in September 2007, Motoring.co.uk was recently acquired by leading comparison website, Moneyextra.com. It currently features over 290,000 new and used cars for sale at any one time, second only to Autotrader.
