Superior Driveline Performance Achieved with Spicer(R) Technology

TOLEDO, Ohio, February 4, 2009: Dana Holding Corporation announced today that it has begun supplying propshafts for the all-new 2009 Cadillac CTS-V, which was recently named one of the Top 10 Cars for 2009 by Car and Driver magazine.

This Dana propshaft manages the 550 pound-feet (747 Newton meters) of torque produced by the vehicle's 556-horsepower engine, which, in June 2008, powered the CTS-V to a new track record at Germany's 13.9-mile Nurburgring race course. The vehicle completed the track in seven minutes and 59 seconds.

"Our proven engineering expertise is clearly demonstrated on this record-setting and award-winning Cadillac," said Marty Bryant, president of the Dana Light Vehicle Driveline Products Group. "Dana teamed with General Motors engineers to meet the challenges of designing and manufacturing a high-performance luxury sedan, and in the process developed the new industry standard for propshafts."

Dana engineers achieved the most demanding balance specifications ever obtained in a propshaft by re-designing the center bearing to endure the torque, pitch, and heat generated by such a high-performance vehicle. The resulting product provides smoother, high-speed dynamic performance with superior noise, vibration, and harshness characteristics. The Dana Spicer(R) Life Series(R) propshaft is manufactured using a high-strength, low-alloy steel tube and magnetarc welding process, which Dana engineers used to achieve stringent straightness and wall thickness specifications.

The CTS-V propshafts are manufactured by United Auto Workers at Dana's Auburn Hills, Mich., facility, which is located one hour from the General Motors assembly plant in Lansing, Mich.

While Dana provides propshafts to all current CTS models, the 2009 CTS-V represents the first Dana propshaft business for a GM V-Series car. Dana also supplies Victor Reinz(R) cam cover gaskets and exhaust manifold gaskets, as well as Long(R) auxiliary transmission oil coolers, for the CTS-V.
