INAUGURAL MIDWEST OFF-ROAD RACING SAFETY & MARKETING SEMINAR
DEEMED A SUCCESS
Abrams, WI (March 16, 2009) ? Even with snow still covering the
local farm fields, over two hundred off-road road enthusiasts came
together for the inaugural Off-Road Racing Safety and Marketing
Seminar in Abrams, Wisconsin. The event coordinator, Don Demeny, put
his idea into motion, in seven short weeks, and the response to the
event exceeded expectations. Thirteen vendors were in attendance
representing over thirty different companies that are involved in
either motorsports safety or marketing.
The Saturday afternoon seminar began with Don Demeny thanking all
the people in attendance. Then he turned over the microphone to any of
the vendors that wanted to say a few words about their company.
Jeff Lenz, of Attitude Motorsports, started the session off with a
great presentation on motorsports marketing and how his company can
improve your race team?s ability to catch the attention of potential
marketing partners.
Aaron Zentgraf, of Safety Solutions, added a brief presentation
about safety in motorsports and the products his company offers.
Mike Reusche, of Phil?s Inc. and MT Graphics, briefly explained
about the parts business and the marketing business he owns and
operates.
The final presenter of the afternoon, Curt Tucker of Teamtech
Motorsports, also offered some insight to some of the latest safety
products his company and how they pertain to the off-road motorsports
community.
Representatives from Crandon International Raceway and Bark River
International Raceway were on hand to answer any questions pertaining
to their upcoming races.
Sanctioning bodies were also well represented as well. The Traxxas
Off-Road Championship (TORC) series had Tiffany Landru and Terry
Severson in attendance. The Mid-America Off-Road Racing Association
(MAORA) had President, Spencer Rising-Moore, as well as Dirk Carlen,
and Brian Powell make the trip up from southern Illinois.
Representatives from the United States Auto Club (USAC), including
Jason Smith, vice-president of Operations, were on hand. Several
members of the Professional Drivers Group (PDG Off-Road) were on hand
as membership forms were available at the seminar as well.
?This is a great event for the industry,? noted Tiffany Landru of
TORC. ?It has brought several aspects of the off-road community
together. It?s a great networking session and by the looks of the
turnout, this needs to be done every year.?
Once the presentations were complete, the very attentive crowd
spent the rest of the afternoon talking to the various companies about
their products and services. Companies like Teamtech Motorsports,
Safety Solutions, and Phil?s Inc. brought many of their products to
the seminar for racers to try, allowing them to make an informed
decision before purchasing.
All the marketing companies that were represented brought along
samples of their recent work. Several large screen monitors were
displaying some of the best photographs, videos, and vehicle wraps of
the 2008 off-road racing season.
?Before I purchase a head restraint, I wanted to try a couple of
them on,? commented Stock Truck competitor, Scott Beauchamp. ?Today I
was able to wear three different restraints. Now I know which one
suits me best. In the coming weeks, I?ll make the purchase.?
?A couple of the companies had seats on display and available for
sale,? noted Single Buggy driver, Jake Vande Voort. ?After sitting in
a Sparco Circuit seat, I knew this is what I was looking for. Phil?s
Inc. made me a great deal on the seat, mounting brackets, and a set of
Teamtech harnesses.?
?My sponsors are always looking for high resolution photos for
their marketing departments,? states Super Buggy driver, Luke
Zoetmulder. ?Now I know who to contact for great action shots, before
the season starts. Heck, I even have options when it comes to video as
well.?
As the event ended, and the vendors packed up their displays, a
good sized contingent regressed to the restaurant and bar for some
great food and drink, as well as some preseason bench racing. Racers
were already talking about next year?s event with the possibility of
including a swap meet with the festivities.
Special thanks go out to the event coordinator, Don Demeny, without
his vision none of this would have happened, and to the owners of the
Flyaway Restaurant and Banquet Hall, without the free use of their
banquet hall, this event would not have been possible.
Thanks also go out to all that participated in the seminar including:
