Shanghai, April 13, 2009: (Gasgoo.com) Chery Auto sold 35,000 vehicles in March, after 30,000 units in February and 35,000 units in January. The Chery A3 series, which sold more than 5,000 units last month, has started contributing to the company's auto sales, xinhuanet.com said today.

The Chery A3 sedan was launched to the market in late September 2008, followed by A3 hatchback in January 2009. Chery Auto decided earlier this year to sell 6,000 A3 cars each month by the end of this year. Encouraged by the sales growth in March, the company has lifted the monthly A3 sales goal by December to 100,000 units.

The sales growth of Chery A3 has mostly come from tier-2 and tier-3 markets. Chery Auto will spread its sales network from cities to neighboring townships, where the sales outlets and services of Chery cars will have the same standards as those in the cities.

Currently Chery Auto has about 1,000 stores in the second-and third-tier markets. The rural areas are also a huge potential market for low-priced, high-quality Chery vehicles, especially the renowned Chery minicars.

Chery's car sales fell to 356,000 units in 2008 from 381,000 of a year earlier. The company aims to sell 419,000 cars in 2009.
