Electric Carmaker Phoenix Motors Files for Bankruptcy Protection

As quiet as an electric car, Phoenix Motors files under Chapter 11

RIVERSIDE, CA - May 2, 2009: Phoenix Motors entered the electric vehicle sweepstakes a couple of years ago brimming with promises to deliver highway speed electric-powered pickup trucks and SUVs. The company staged several elaborate preview parties and counted among its supporters noted actor/dedicated environmentalist Ed Begley, Jr. But this past Thursday afternoon, at U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Riverside, California, the company filed for bankruptcy. No details were given to the media and the company's website makes no mention of the event.

Phoenix Motors was a regular participant at all the leading alternative fuel/vehicle expositions, and presented an exciting story that differed from most others small electric cars contenders by targeting the segment of the market that would want larger vehicles with electric performance.
