Lexus of Richmond Announces Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award

Media partners WRLH-FOX, WRVA, WRNL & Richmond Magazine helped recognize local student athletes

RICHMOND, Va., May 20 -- For the 14th year Lexus of Richmond has participated in recognizing one outstanding high school senior scholar-athlete for the Annual Lexus of Richmond Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award. Thirty students were finalists in this competition, and each week over the school year an individual nominee was featured on WRLH FOX Richmond each Friday evening during FOX NEWS AT TEN's FOX FIRST SPORTS. Highlights included their scholastic and athletic achievements and their community activities. Each of the finalists demonstrated total commitment to hard work both in the classroom and on the field of play.

Selecting just one winner from this talented group of high achievers was no easy task, but in the end, Katherine Selko of Douglas Freeman High School was presented the $20,000 Scholarship in the 14th Annual Lexus of Richmond Pursuit of Perfection Leadership Award.

George W. Whitlow, President of Lexus of Richmond said, "To see the personal achievement of these scholars along with their community focus, makes me feel confident about the future of our area. All of these young folks are winners."

"George and Wendy Whitlow have created what is the marquee scholarship-award dinner in the Richmond region," says Susan Winiecki, associate publisher and editor in chief of Richmond magazine. "Between listening to the students' community contributions and hearing an inspiring speech from Barry Parkhill, University of Virginia basketball legend; the awards banquet was an evening that will resonate for years in these students' lives. I look forward to year 15!"

Steve Genett, General Manager at WRLH FOX Richmond said, "Fox Richmond is proud to participate as a partner with Lexus of Richmond, WRVA and Richmond Magazine in this tremendous community endeavor which does so much to recognize excellence in this area's youth."

Steve Adams, the Senior Account Executive/Scholarship Director for Clear Channel Radio-Richmond shared, "WRVA is proud to honor such outstanding young men and women in the Central Virginia area each year, and just as proud to have partnered with Lexus of Richmond for all fourteen years of the scholarship program!"
