LONDON – December 15, 2009: Revolutionary online car-buying service, AutoeBid.com, is bucking online shopping trends, with a 99.6% increase in online car sales year-to-date 2009, leading to predictions that one in four cars will be bought online by 2015.

While consumers think nothing of buying books or DVDs, personal security is the reason traditionally given for avoiding larger transactions online. For one in three internet users, this means not shopping online at all and even amongst those that do, 72 per cent say they still have concerns*.

Auto eBid’s success is down to its unique transaction process that supports its online security tools, giving customers confidence to take advantage of the great savings that can be made.

Auto eBid operates a ‘reverse auction’ system, where car dealers are invited to bid for customers’ business, while the customer’s details are kept anonymous. This not only allows people to save money, by having car dealers compete for each sale, it also protects customers’ security – Auto eBid guards all personal data until a ‘winning’ dealer has been declared, only then passing them the customer’s contact details to conclude the arrangements.

Auto eBid also imposes strict conditions on dealers using its service, including:

  • trading for at least 3 years
  • sold a minimum of 100 vehicles
  • have at least 3 employees
  • take a small deposit only by credit card

No payment is made for a car until it has been delivered to and inspected by the customer and they are 100% satisfied it meets their order.

“Cars are a big transaction for anyone, not least those nervous about online security” explains Auto eBid CEO, Amin Saleem. “That is why we go the extra mile to make sure buying a car online is safer even than doing so in person. You can’t get duped by a dealer, you can’t lose any deposit and your details are not passed on or sold to any third party.”

On www.AutoeBid.com itself, a unique and highly visible green address bar will display in the latest high-security browsers, showing the site is authentic and uses Extended Validation SSL to secure financial details. In addition, internet security firm, Thwate, has checked and verified the company meets the strongest identity authentication standard today.

“We have seen that by addressing people’s security concerns, we can gain where others lose,” says Saleem. “This is the future model for high value transactions that will change the way cars are bought.”
