TULLAMARINE, AUSTRALIA – March 30, 2010: Three Honda vehicles have been named in the top nine commuter vehicles by America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organisation, AAA.

The Honda Insight, Civic and Accord made the list, which compares vehicles based on practicality, safety, comfort, fuel efficiency and affordability.

The strong performance of these models is good news for Australian commuters, particularly those in capital cities, who face an average daily commute of 30 minutes. Sydneysiders face the most time in the car at 35 minutes, followed closely by Melbourne workers at 30 minutes, Brisbane commuters at 27 minutes and Perth and Adelaide at 25 minutes apiece*.

According to AAA Auto Buying’s team of experts, the Honda Insight performed strongly in the areas of fuel efficiency, comfort and driveability.

“The Honda Insight is among the ultimate in gasoline fuel economy while being reasonably comfortable for the driver and front-seat passenger. It’s also less costly and more fun to drive than some of its hybrid competitors”.

Honda’s Accord also proved popular with AAA judges, who recognised the overall strength of the vehicle.

“Good for the commute and good for family transportation, the Accord is roomy, solid and economical when equipped with the four-cylinder engine. It also offers road manners that are beyond reproach.”

Feedback on the Honda Civic was similarly positive. “Affordable, dependable, economical and comfortable, the Civic is one of the better performing compacts for a wide range of uses, including commuting,” said AAA.

Founded in 1902, AAA is North America’s largest motoring and leisure travel organisation, providing a range of automotive-related services to more than 51 million members.
