SYDNEY – April 23, 2010: Ford Performance Racing (FPR) team big guns, Mark Winterbottom and Steven Richardson were on hand to judge Ford’s annual ‘Show and Shine’ event today. Legendary Ford drivers Allan Moffatt and John Bowe also came along to support the event.

The event, dubbed Hot Rods and Hot Dogs in support of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) was held at Ford in Campbellfield and showcased bikes and cars from Ford employees and Early Falcon Club and GT Falcon Club members.

A grand auction of sporting memorabilia was held including a genuine race damaged body panel signed by Mark Winterbottom and Steven Richards, an authentic V8 race team jacked signed by John Bowe and a football signed by Geelong Cats Captain, Cameron Ling.

Judging some of the entries, Mark Winterbottom said; “The cars and bikes on display really demonstrate the local community’s motoring passion, with classic models and brand new models on show. It’s also great to see Ford raising money for such as great cause -the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.”

Mike Wilson, CEO of JDRF said the funds raised would be well-spent. “For the 140,000 Australians currently living with type 1 diabetes, their best hope for a cure is through the progression of research and events like Hot Rods and Hot Dogs are the necessary link for funding. JDRF is continually humbled by the generosity of Ford.”

The annual Hot Rods and Hot Dogs event is also supported by V8 Race Experience, Moores Printing and local community organisations such as Fresh Plus located in Roxburgh Park.
