FULLERTON, June 10, 2010: One swipe of a card at a trade show earned Vicky Britton years worth of points with her husband Bill, an independent trucker. Vicky swiped her card at the Yokohama Tire Corporation display at the Mid-America Trucking Show in March in Louisville, Kentucky, automatically entering her in a contest for $5,000 worth of commercial truck tires. Vicky and Bill, who live in Orwell, Ohio, were notified by Yokohama that she won.

“Now my husband loves me even more,” Vicky said. “He and I were totally surprised to hear I won. It’s like winning the lottery.”

Vicky’s good luck means husband Bill, who owns Bill Britton Trucking, will receive a free set of Yokohama’s top-of-the-line Zenvironment™ commercial tires.

“The contest awards Bill Britton Trucking eight Yokohama 703ZL™ drive tires and two 101ZL™ steer tires along with free installation and valve stems at the Yokohama dealer of their choice,” said John Cooney, Yokohama director of commercial sales. “We’re happy the contest was such a success and congratulations to the Brittons.”

“Thank you, Yokohama,” said a happy Vicky Britton. “My husband’s very, very happy.”

The new 101ZL steer tire, which will be officially launched this fall, and the 703ZL drive tire are part of Yokohama’s eco-sensitive Zenvironment line and are on the EPA’s SmartWay list of verified technologies for tires. Yokohama now has seven tires that are recognized as SmartWay “low rolling resistance tires.”

The 101ZL, which will be available in four sizes (295/75R22.5, 11R22.5, 11R24.5 and 285/75R24.5), is a premium steer tire designed for long-haul operations. It features enhanced durability, excellent longevity and greater fuel efficiency. “Ideal,” said Cooney, “for fleet owners and truck operators. The tires last longer and help preserve the environment because they are more fuel efficient.”

“The high-tech, ultra-long mileage 703ZL tire features the deepest tread in the industry – one full inch – with the lowest rolling resistance in its category. It also has a solid closed shoulder that provides even wear, which translates to more road miles.”
