SANTA MONICA, Calif., Oct. 18, 2010; Ford leads the industry in discounts*for 2010 models from their Manufactured Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) with an average discount of nearly 15 percent according to the latest TrueTrends Report from TrueCar.com. The report shows that Ford (14.7 percent), Lincoln (12.3 percent) and Mercury (11.5 percent) are the top three makes for 2010 discounts and Ford Focus and Ford Ranger are the top two models. Toyota headlines the top make with the largest discount from MSRP for 2011 models at 8.3 percent.

Additionally, large trucks continue to offer the highest average discount from MSRP among the 15 vehicle categories TrueCar.com tracks with discounts of 11 percent. Following large trucks on the category list are luxury cars (8 percent); large and midsize cars (6.7 percent); vans (6.6 percent); and small cars (6.6).

"Even though inventory levels are down, there are still many 2010 models left on dealership lots," said Jesse Toprak, VP of Industry Trends and Insights at TrueCar.com. "With a little bit of homework, consumers shopping for a new vehicle can expect to find some exceptional deals right now."
