MILTON KEYNES, UNITED KINGDOM – November 5, 2010: The Volkswagen Golf has added another trophy to its cabinet, being awarded the ACFO Fleet Car of the Year accolade. For the fourth consecutive year, members of the premier organisation for fleet operators voted the Golf as their favourite car.

Volkswagen also fared well in other categories with the Fleet Services Team voted runner-up in the Fleet Services Company of the Year awards; the Golf BlueMotion named runner-up in the Green Car of the Year category; and the Caddy featuring as runner-up in the Small Van of the Year sector.

ACFO chairman Julie Jenner said: ‘The awards may have been given a new-look in 2010 but they continue to represent the true face of fleet operations. More than 130 nominations were received across the seven categories underlining the breadth of competition there is in today’s fleet market.

‘Fleet decision-makers are reliant on motor manufacturers to deliver vehicles that are cost effective to operate, safe, reliable and environmentally-friendly and supplier companies to provide a first class service.

‘Operating successfully in partnership it means that through the availability of top quality vehicles and first rate suppliers, vehicle downtime can be kept to an absolute minimum and fleet managers can focus on the efficient and effective operation of their vehicles to support their businesses.’

Head of Volkswagen Fleet Services, Vince Kinner, added: ‘We’re really proud that the Golf has retained the ACFO Fleet Car of the Year accolade once again. Volkswagen’s reputation for producing high quality, desirable and reliable cars with low whole-life costs shines through in the Golf, while the back-up provided by the Fleet Services Team means that company car fleet operators can rely on our consistently high standards of customer service.’
