VICTORIA, AUSTRALIA – February 28, 2011: Holden today unveiled the new Cruze range, including the most fuel-efficient car built in Australia.

The new 2.0 litre turbo diesel manual models in the Cruze range achieve impressive fuel economy of 5.6 litres per 100km. The diesel manual Cruze also becomes one of the lowest CO₂ emitting vehicles in its class, at just 147 grams per kilometre.

The powerful and economical 2.0 litre turbo diesel engine is available as on option on both the entry level CD and luxury CDX Cruze models.

Holden’s Energy and Environment Director Richard Marshall said turbo diesel Cruze was the latest addition to Holden’s Ecoline range of vehicles that use alternative fuel or fuel saving technologies.

“Holden created the Ecoline range to help customers easily identify economical vehicles in our portfolio which run on alternative fuel or take advantage of fuel-saving technologies,” Mr Marshall said.

“The launch of the new Australian-made Cruze also adds two models to Holden’s Ecoline range - the very efficient diesel and the new ‘down-sized’ 1.4 litre turbo petrol which delivers great performance and economy.

“The Cruze models in the Ecoline range take advantage of the benefits of turbocharging diesel and small capacity petrol engines.

“This helps Cruze punch above its weight as a small car, with the sort of luxury and technology features people expect from larger vehicles, which is fun to drive and also extremely economical to run.

“That these vehicles are also being engineered for local conditions and made by Holden in Australia makes us doubly proud,” he said.

The Cruze range also includes an upgraded version of the current 1.8 litre petrol engine. All three petrol and diesel powertrains meet the latest Euro 5 emission standards.
