RENNtech Mercedes Benz Sets New World Record At Palm Beach International Raceway

JUPITER, April 8, 2011: Local racer Steve Calamusa, along with engineers from RENNtech, brought a specially-prepared Mercedes BiTurbo CL65 to the weekly Friday night Test and Tune at Palm Beach International Raceway and set a new world record for the fastest street legal Mercedes.

Powered by a modified ECU/TCU, airbox, limited slip differential, high flow exhaust, drag radials, modified heat exchanger and intercooler pump, the silver V12 BiTurbo RENNTech Mercedes CL65 smoked the competition with an impressive 10.27-second pass at 137.46 miles per hour. Additional modifications to the Mercedes include a more aggressive race-only tune, carbon ceramic brakes, carbon fiber driveshaft , modified transmission and a prototype torque converter.

Palm Beach International Raceway holds two weekly Test and Tune events, Wednesdays and Fridays at 6pm. Test and Tune entry is $25, crew and spectator prices are $10 and children 12 and under are free.
