Australian Technician Placed in Top 10 at Volkswagen Service Qualification Championships

BOTANY – June 20, 2011: Volkswagen Group Australia is pleased to announce that Chanh Trinh of McGrath Volkswagen, Liverpool, has achieved a record breaking positioning for the Asia-Pacific region at the annual Service Qualification World Championships placing ninth in the world at the recent competition in Wolfsburg, Germany.

Trinh was the highest placed Australian technician taking out second place in the Asia-Pacific Regional Master Technician category, and achieving a ninth place overall. This top 10 position is one of Australia’s and the Asia-Pacific region’s best in the competition’s history.

Phil Murray, general manager of service, Volkswagen Group Australia, said of Trinh’s success: “I’d like to congratulate Chanh Trinh for his achievements at the Service Qualification World Championships. This is a fantastic result for Australia and one of which Chanh should be extremely proud. His dedication, skill-set and product knowledge has proven to be an incredible asset, positioning him amongst the world’s best master technicians.”

Now in its fourth year, the Service Qualification World Championship saw 140 finalists from 70 countries compete against fellow serviceman and technicians. In the course of the national preliminary rounds, not only the best service experts were discovered from each region, but also the current level of knowledge was established in the Volkswagen dealership networks. From this experience, country-specific training programmes were devised and then converted into practical courses.
