LUTON, UNITED KINGDOM – Aug 26, 2011: Chevrolet UK has appointed Rebecca Lawman as its new Marketing Manager, effective immediately.

Miss Lawman has an impressive track record in motor industry marketing, and has been working for Chevrolet since 2005. She started her career in marketing roles with the Reg Vardy dealer group and a Mercedes-Benz retailer, before joining Chevrolet at the time of the brand’s inception in the UK.

Her previous roles within Chevrolet have included a field-based regional role, heading up dealer marketing and her most recent role as Product Manager, while Rebecca was also the driving force behind Chevrolet’s recent high-profile appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

She will be responsible for all Chevrolet’s ongoing marketing activity, including the brand’s recently announced ‘Make it Happen’ media campaign, an initiative that aims to give the American car brand much greater recognition and awareness in the European market, where it has become one of the fastest growing and most exciting brands.

“It’s a thrilling time to be working for Chevrolet,” said the 31-year old Scot. “We’ve undergone something of a product revolution to the point where there is no model in our current range that is more than two years old. We’ve got an amazing brand, a great line-up of cars and huge opportunity for growth in the coming months and years, and the key to that will be growing awareness of both how strong our brand and product offer are across the UK and beyond.”

Miss Lawman takes on the new role as Chevrolet prepares to launch its all-new Aveo supermini, which arrives in UK showrooms in October. She will also oversee the launch of the mould-breaking extended range electric car, the Volt, which makes its UK debut early in 2012.

“Rebecca is typical of the Chevrolet UK team and of our brand and model range,” said Chevrolet UK Managing Director Mark Terry. “As a brand we’re young, energetic, vibrant and geared for growth, while our cars are just getting better and better all the time. She’s the ideal fit as we enter the most important phase of our UK history.”

The Chevrolet brand celebrates its centenary this year, and is the world’s fourth largest car brand. Its parent company, General Motors, announced the Chevrolet brand would be coming to Europe at the 2004 Paris Motor Show, and launched the brand in all major European markets, including the UK, in 2005. In that time, Chevrolet has grown to achieve sales of over 500,000 units across Europe, and a pan-European market share of more than one per cent.
