DEARBORN, MI--Sept. 14, 2011:
Ford wows at Frankfurt
Ford introduced a host of major vehicle and technology offerings at
the Frankfurt Motor Show, including the first production applications for
its smallest-ever EcoBoost engine -- a 1.0-liter
three-cylinder. The engine will initially be available in Europe, then North
America, China and other regions.
And the covers have come off Ford's first global performance car, the Focus
ST, which will launch in 2012. The dynamic, high-performance Fiesta ST
Concept was also revealed, along with Ford's ultra-low-CO2 ECOnetic
technology range.

Ford, Bug Labs develop ' OpenXC'
Ford and Bug Labs are exploring how to make SYNC connectivity more available, affordable and personalized for hundreds of millions of people globally who are expected to buy a vehicle by 2020. Together, Ford and Bug Labs will research, develop and distribute open-source developer tools to advance in-car connectivity. Known as "OpenXC," the platform will enable the developer community to quickly prototype and test out affordable connectivity concepts. more...

First CNG-powered Ford Transit Connect Taxis hit the streets of California
California's first compressed natural gas (CNG) Ford Transit Connect Taxis are now in service in greater Los Angeles, giving taxi owners, drivers and passengers a chance to help the environment one small trip at a time. California Yellow Cab of Orange County now has 10 Transit Connect Taxis in service, which are part of an order of 50 units. Yellow Cab of Anaheim ordered 69 units, meaning more than 100 CNG Transit Connect Taxis will soon be servicing Southern California. more...
