MIAMI--May 15, 2012: Ryder System, Inc. , a leader in commercial transportation and supply chain management solutions, announced today that Scott Perry, Vice President of Supply Management for Ryder, will be participating on a panel at the 2012 Alternative Clean Transportation (ACT) Expo, North America's largest alternative fuels and clean vehicle technologies conference. The panel, titled "Funding and Financing: Business Cases for Fleet Deployment Projects," will take place on May 17 at the Long Beach Convention Center in Long Beach, Calif. Mr. Perry is responsible for developing Ryder's alternative fuel vehicle offering, which includes leading the company's successful commercial natural gas truck deployment in Southern California. He will discuss how to facilitate the deployment of alternative fuel vehicle fleets by leveraging outsourced transportation solutions such as rental and leasing. In addition, as previously announced, Ryder Chairman and CEO Greg Swienton will deliver a keynote address at ACT Expo on Thursday, May 17. Mr. Swienton will provide an overview of how Ryder is expanding acceptance of and access to clean vehicle technologies in North America.

“Funding and Financing: Business Cases for Fleet Deployment Projects”

Ryder became the first outsourced fleet provider to offer heavy duty natural gas vehicles for the leasing and rental industry through a groundbreaking natural gas vehicle project with the San Bernardino Associated Governments (SANBAG) in Southern California. Ryder's partnership with SANBAG and the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) Clean Cities Coalition includes the deployment of 202 heavy duty natural gas-powered vehicles, made available to customers for rent or lease or through Ryder's dedicated logistics services. As part of the project, Ryder is building two natural gas refueling stations and has equipped three maintenance facilities for the indoor servicing of natural gas vehicles in Fontana, Orange, and Rancho Dominguez, Calif. The $38.7 million project is being funded as part of a joint public/private industry partnership between the U.S. Department of Energy, the California Energy Commission, and Ryder. Ryder's natural gas fleet includes both compressed and liquified natural gas vehicles that are currently deployed in customer operations in California, Arizona and Michigan. As North America's largest convergence of alternative fuels stakeholders each year, ACT Expo attracts thousands of attendees for cutting-edge discussions about the economic, environmental, and energy security benefits of alternative fuel use in transportation. Program topics for the 2012 agenda will include a focus on electrification of the transportation industry, the development of national infrastructure systems, a spotlight on the investment decision making process, and a discussion on how fleets can move past the tipping point and integrate large-scale deployments of AFVs into their fleet operations. The 100,000 square foot expo hall will complement this program by featuring an exceptional array of advanced transportation and alternative fuel vehicles, equipment and technologies; it will be open to the public on May 16 and 17.
