Projecta Takes Control of the Sun with Range of Solar Controllers

MELBOURNE – May 21, 2012: Projecta has released a range of state-of-the-art solar controllers to regulate solar power up to 30A in either 12 or 24 volt. Charging in either 2 Stage for automotive batteries or 3 Stage for deep cycle batteries, the controllers can also manage a direct DC load.

Whilst the solar panels capture the sunlight converting it into useable electric power the solar controller regulates this power to avoid damage to the battery through excessive charge or discharge at night.

Each of the controllers have been designed to be left connected to the battery indefinitely to keep it fully charged, monitoring its condition and performing a process called ‘float’ charge to maintain the battery in optimum condition.

2 Stage controllers are suitable for use on automotive batteries whilst the 3 Stage controllers can be used on both automotive and deep cycle batteries. The additional stage referred to the ‘absorption’ ensures the battery receives a full and comprehensive charge which is delivered in a better pattern, whilst at the same time monitoring its condition to ensure it is not overcharged.

Entry level models are 12V 7Amp and 10 Amp offering basic charging control via a two stage process. These are considered the minimum controllers required to provide protection against solar overcharge and discharge.

The four 3 Stage Projecta controllers in the program are 12/24 Volt and come in 10A, 20A, a 20A with remote meter and a 30A controller with a built in display panel.

Each of the 3 Stage controllers have an ON/OFF maximum load control switch plus a low voltage disconnect to prevent battery damage due to over discharge of the battery. An easy to read L.E.D charge indicator displays a quick reference guide to the operational status.

The ultimate 3 Stage Solar Charge Controller is the automatic 12/24V 30A units (Part No. SC330) ideal for deep cycle batteries often found in motor homes, house boats and remote holiday homes and shacks. This precisely controls the power generated from the solar panels delivering 3 Stage charge maximising battery life and performance.

The controls are on the controller panel allowing a user to directly switch the DC load ON/OFF. An in-built LCD screen displays charge rate, battery level and power usage data and an in-build sensor adjusts the output according to the ambient temperature.
