LAVERTON, AUSTRALIA – June 26, 2012: Australia’s leading motoring authorities have confirmed the Suzuki Alto as the Black Caviar of car ownership and operating costs.

Undefeated since its launch in 2009, the Suzuki Alto has once again been named Australia’s cheapest car to own and operate by the motoring clubs of Australia.

The Alto GL dominated the light car class and easily outperformed all other competitors in annual surveys conducted by the RACV, NRMA, RAA, RACQ and RACT.

Based on average car operating costs over a five year period, the Alto GL manual ranked first among all new vehicles in Australia with a weekly bill ranging from $91 to $121 depending on different regulatory costs in each state.

Taking into account purchase price, depreciation, petrol prices, maintenance and insurance, the Alto’s average weekly fuel bill was calculated around $24, returning an overall cost per kilometre of just over 30 cents per kilometre.

With its leading safety of six airbags and ESC plus the economy of just 4.7 litres per 100 kilometres, the Suzuki Alto – starting from just $12,490 drive away – is clearly one of the best value new cars on the market.

“Suzuki has always regarded outstanding value for money as a cornerstone of its philosophy,” said Suzuki Australia general manager, Tony Devers.

“The results speak for themselves and we are extremely proud of this recognition by Australia’s leading independent motoring authorities.”
