MACON, GA--July 9, 2012: GEICO will help bring road safety experts together for a day-long teen safe driving camp on August 4.

“For five years, GEICO has partnered with Monroe County Sheriff's Office to help bring awareness and spread the word about safe driving among our local teens”

GEICO has partnered with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office and Forsyth Police Department to host the 5th annual Teen Safe Driving Camp on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Georgia Public Safety Training Center in Forsyth, Ga.

The cost to attend the camp is $10 and deadline for submitting an application is July 15. For more information or to request an application, contact Sgt. Michael Clay at 478-994-7048 or Officer Bob Sanderson at 478-994-6022.

Teen drivers, ages 15 to 17, are particularly encouraged to participate in this one-day camp aimed to improve driving skills and educate teens on the importance of safe driving.

Teens will learn defensive driving tips, car maintenance, skid recovery techniques and proper railroad crossing tips. Teens will also have the opportunity to drive golf carts using fatal vision goggles through a challenging obstacle course at the training center.

"For five years, GEICO has partnered with Monroe County Sheriff's Office to help bring awareness and spread the word about safe driving among our local teens," said Mary Zarcone, GEICO's regional vice president. "Many new drivers lack the preparation or training necessary to be safe on the road. We're delighted to have another opportunity to sponsor an event that provides instruction for teen drivers on how to react to various driving situations."
