LOS ANGELES--July 17, 2012: On July 24, Motor Press Guild (MPG), the largest automotive media association in North America, will host its July meeting at The Proud Bird Restaurant in Los Angeles with guest speaker Rick Schostek, Senior Vice President of Honda of America Mfg., Inc., which is marking its 30th anniversary of automobile production in the United States.

Schostek will discuss the expanding role of Honda's North American factories within its global manufacturing system, including significant new investments in the US. North America has become the largest automotive manufacturing base for Honda globally. In addition, more than 85 percent of the vehicles Honda sells in the U.S. are produced in North America, the highest percentage among all international automakers. Schostek will discuss how this has spurred a heightened responsibility for Honda's North American manufacturing operations.

"Our industry tends to focus so much on sales, it's sometimes easy to forget that building vehicles can be a challenge in this global marketplace," said Laura Burstein, president, Motor Press Guild.  "Honda was the first Asian company to build cars right here in the U.S., and we look forward to hearing more about its future production plans for North America."

Rick Schostek joined Honda in 1987 and was appointed senior vice president in 2012. Schostek also serves as a member of the Honda of America Operations Committee (HOC), planning and establishing strategies as well as supporting each plant and the president in the total management and operation of the company.
