Project is the largest and most comprehensive system to be built in the US in the last 20 years

TYSONS CORNER, Va. and DALLAS and FORT WORTH, Texas, July 30, 2012 -- Kapsch TrafficCom IVHS, Inc., a subsidiary of Kapsch TrafficCom AG has been selected to design, build, and integrate the Managed Lane System (MLS) for both the North Tarrant Express (NTE) and LBJ Express projects in Dallas and Tarrant Counties in North Texas. The project scope for Kapsch encompasses delivery of a Toll Collection System (TCS), Intelligent Transportation System (ITS), and Network Communication System (NCS), creating a fully integrated MLS. The agreement signed today extends more than thirty miles of "managed lanes" -- specifically used, administered and tolled lanes to arrange the traffic according to different requirements and demands -- with sixty-five toll lanes and thirty-three toll zones. The total contract value for the implementation of the system reaches approximately USD 79 million. The first phase of the system shall start operation in the second half of 2013.

"We are delighted to have been selected to participate in what will be one of the premier transportation systems in North America," said Chris Murray, President and CEO, Kapsch TrafficCom IVHS, Inc. "Innovative investment approaches and advanced transportation solutions like this managed lanes project are critical to the successful delivery of new infrastructure projects needed to keep America strong and the economy moving."

Kapsch TrafficCom has assembled a team of highly-qualified partners including experienced civil, ITS and network infrastructure providers which includes a number of local Texas-based companies and organizations. This team complements the electronic tolling capabilities and overall system and project management provided by Kapsch. The project will be managed out of the local project management office of Kapsch in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.

"Winning the NTE and LBJ projects represents a major accomplishment for Kapsch in North America and around the world. Road transportation issues such as network performance, congestion, variable pricing, work zones, air pollution and pavement quality are among the top ranked concerns of private, commercial and public transportation users. Kapsch strives to deliver superior, technology centric end-to-end solutions in a highly competitive market," said Georg Kapsch, Chief Executive Officer of Kapsch TrafficCom Group.

The NTE and LBJE serving the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, one of the nation's fastest growing business corridors in the US, are scheduled for completion in 2015 and 2016 respectively.

About the North Tarrant Express
The North Tarrant Express is a $2.5 billion project dedicated to improving mobility along 13.5 miles of the IH820 and SH 121/183 (Airport Freeway) corridor in Northeast Tarrant County. The project, scheduled to open in 2015, will completely reconstruct and upgrade the existing highway and nearly double the road capacity along the corridor in order to relieve congestion, improve safety and accommodate anticipated future population growth. To find out more about the NTE project, please visit North Tarrant Express.

About the LBJ Express
Described by state transportation leaders as the most comprehensive and complex project of its type in the country, the LBJExpress project will feature dramatic improvements to approximately 17 miles of I-35E and I-635 in Dallas County. The project limits, which go from Luna Road to Greenville Ave along I-635 and Loop 12 to Valwood Parkway along I-35 are part of a new choice-based highway network. This innovative project will feature a multi-level highway system, including several miles of depressed lanes, allowing drivers the choice of continuing on the same number of free, general purpose lanes available today, or bypassing congestion on new high speed managed toll lanes. When complete in 2016, the LBJ Express will reduce travel delays, provide mobility choices, improve safety, and help reduce the carbon footprint associated with idling traffic.
