WASHINGTON--Nov. 7, 2012: Brian Wynne, president of the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA), issued the following statement in response to U.S. President Barack Obama winning re-election last night:

"EDTA looks forward to continuing its work with President Obama and the newly-elected Congress to advance technology innovation that will diversify our transportation fuels.

"Since the U.S. imports approximately 45 percent of the oil used in the transportation sector, at a cost of more than $1 billion a day, advancing alternatives to petroleum is a strategic and economic imperative.

"Policies that advance energy security through electrification of the commercial and consumer vehicle fleets should be bipartisan priorities for the Administration and 113th Congress."
